There are about 8 criteria, and you, or your other half, have to meet only one of them to get married in a particular church.
If you meet a criteria, then you contact the vicar of the church and see if he will accept you. Living in the parish doesn't matter, but you, or a family member, have to have, or had, some connection.

This was a surprise to me as it used to be very difficult to marry in church, however, they have relaxed the rules. I am using the fact that my grandmother married in the church as my reason, and i live in Dubai! The vicar we met was very laid back and happy to marry us.

The big no no as far as the church is concerned is that neither party can be divorced!
